Here is the story behind Miles' mini ... 1992 Rover Mini Neon - K215 GJS

This "One-Lady-Owner" gem was found in a garage locally in 2007 with only 8989 Miles on the clock. After 6 months of negotiations it was finally rescued and then underwent a light restoration and refurbishment.

This involved completely stripping the underside of the car of sealant and welding one small patch over the only hole found behind the front nearside wheel, repainting the front wings and panel and then giving a light hoovering to the relatively unused interior.

Needless to say it was not me that carried out the restoration, apart from the hoovering, so huge thanks must go out to my Father-in-Law for all the blood, sweat and tears that he put into the car, especially in removing the ghastly black stuff from the underneath.

Here she is fresh from her first MOT and ready to hit the road once more. A year later a new rear sub frame was fitted as, even though it hadn't seen much mileage, the original had suffered from the copious amounts of salt laid down on the Highland winter roads.

K215 GJS gets driven regularly to local Classic Car Shows and Mini Club Nights. She took part in the MinisInInverness Charity Run to Ullapool and here she is proudly leading one of the runs with the Highland Classic Motor Club (www.highlandclassic.org.uk).
